Patriot's Pen Competition Results:
                        VFW Post 609 is pleased to announce this year's winners of its Patriot's Pen contest.                                     The Patriot's Pen contest is open to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students.                                                             This year's theme is "The America I Believe In".                                                                          57 students submitted essays this year.  Our top 3 winners are:
             1st Place -- McKenzie Brooks, from Browne Academy

                The Voice of Democracy contest is open to 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students.                    
                    This year's theme is "My Responsibility to America".  Our top 2 winners are:
2nd Place -- Harold L. "Jesse" Amoss from Bishop O'Connell
                     Our First Place Winner:   Jay Falk, T.C. Williams High School

                                   This note from the NATIONAL VFW WEBSITE (quote): 
    "Jay Falk, a junior at T.C. WIlliams High School, has been named a winner in the 2017 National Voice Of                        Democrary Program and recipient of the $2,000 Jesse A. Lewis Memorial Scholarship."
                                                      She placed 13th Nationwide!
